Detention Center Information
Attorney Visits: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (visits will also be accommodated on a reasonable request other than the times listed above.)
Family Visits: Generally, all visits are non-contact. Visitors must be over the age of 18 and must bring proper identification. Some examples of proper I.D. are: Driver's License - Military I.D. - Passport, etc. Only immediate family will be allowed to visit (parents, grandparents, sister or brother). All other visits must be approved by the Chief of Security. Any person who has been incarcerated within the last 6 months or is out on bail/bond will not be allowed to visit or have access to the detention center. Children and other adults may be allowed to visit on certain holidays; the inmate will be made aware prior to the holidays so that he can notify visitors.
Depositing Money: Anyone can deposit money in an inmate's account. Money may be deposited in the cashier machine in the front lobby of the Eddy County Detention Center at 201 N. Main in Carlsbad, everyday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. The machine takes cash and credit or debit cards. The machine DOES NOT ACCEPT COINS OR ONE DOLLAR ($1) BILLS. There is a transaction fee of $2.75 each time money is deposited. Money Orders will still be accepted through the mail.
Medical/Dental/Mental Health Care: There is a Registered Nurse on duty 7 days per week, as well as holidays. The Medical Director is a State Licensed physician. Mental health services are provided by Carlsbad Mental Health Center. Dental services are also available. The detention center is seeking national accreditation for compliance with the standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.
